Clipper 50 Hudson Bay progress Update

Check out these latest images of the new Hudson Bay sedan currently in build. She is really starting to look like a finished boat now that most of the cabinetry and trim has been installed. The team have done a magnificent job of final fit and finish and you can see the cabinetry really looks superb.

We have chosen a slightly more contemporary look and feel for the sedan series as you will see in the counter tops, woodwork, drawers and cupboards. Also the lower helm will feature a “pod” display which will have a hand stitched leather covering making the readout and electronics area state of the art with a full complement of brand new Simrad navigation equipment. This will be integrated with a full Fusion sound system throughout as well as DVD and saloon audio for the movie lovers.

We have also added a lower helm pantograph opening door which will be a great feature to allow for side deck access making docking and anchoring easier. The flooring is using teak random planks for a great look and functional finish, while my wife, Natalie, has chosen Australian fabrics to finish the cabin-wall linings, bedheads and trim through the accommodation areas.

We have chosen contemporary Caesar stone benchtops in the galley and bathrooms with stylish, modern sinks mounted above the counter tops and square mixers along with full rain shower square showers in both bathrooms.

I think the cockpit area with its big overhang for shade will prove to be popular for our Australian lifestyle as there is a combo icemaker and fridge and the BBQ area has both a Miele lava rock BBQ for perfect steaks along with a flat plate Teppanyaki BBQ – perfect for veggies and sausages and brekky cooking to complement the outdoor kitchen. Seating for 9 or 10 adults is provided also in this area.

You will also appreciate that you can access the cockpit from the platform on both sides and also have room between the tender launch and the side deck/transom to access the boat. I really prefer this system to a garage which I feel from experience is limited in size of tender and difficult to load and unload. This new tender lift will drop the tender in a minute and then double as a stairway and submerged swim platform for the kids while leaving the sides of the platform intact.

We are heading to work with the Clipper team mid this month for final QC and testing and we hope to have her in Australia in November to launch in QLD and NSW, so stay tuned….
